2010 Summer Schedule - April 09, 2010
The Charlottetown Airport Authority announced the summer flight schedule and outlook for the year today.
Economists predict that 2010 will remain a challenging year for aviation as the economy continues to recover. Globally, air traffic is expected to rebound slightly, with a slight increase in passenger traffic predicted worldwide. Traffic at the CharlottetownAirport for the first quarter of 2010 was up 0.3% over last year.
“The good news for 2010 is that we are expecting seat capacity at CharlottetownAirport to be up by 5% for the full year in comparison to 2009,” stated Airport CEO, Doug Newson. “Having more seats available is certainly critical to growing air traffic and we are pleased that overall capacity will be up this year.”
“Every year, airlines adjust and change their service offerings in each market,” noted Newson. This year Air Canada has added a second daily flight to Ottawa. As well, Delta Air Lines, after completing their merger with Northwest Airlines, has indicated that they will be changing their strategy for certain markets with regional airline service. This change means that instead of daily flights from Boston and Detroit; PEI will have a new daily non-stop service to JohnFKennedyAirport in New York City, beginning June 17th. WestJet is expected to offer the same service as last year, increasing gradually to two flights per day in the peak summer season.”

During the peak summer period there will be 15 flights departing daily from CharlottetownAirport flying direct to five destinations with hundreds of connection options.
Air Canada Toronto three times daily
Montreal three times daily
