Sunwing Moves Flight to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

November 23, 2009, Charlottetown PEI - Islanders will have one more sun destination to choose from this winter.  Sunwing Vacations has added a new direct flight from Charlottetown to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. This flight has been added to replace the previously announced flight to Cancun, Mexico.  

“We are pleased Sunwing Vacations has added this great sun destination,” noted CEO, Doug Newson.  “All inclusive vacations are a growing segment of the travel market and we hope to continue to expand the offering so more Islanders can fly from PEI. This new service to Punta Cana, Domincan Republic will be offered non-stop in both directions, which is an added bonus for Islanders looking to spend less time travelling and more time vacationing!”

Last winter’s popular flights to Varadero, Cuba will also return for another season.  All inclusive vacations to Varadero and Punta Cana will begin the week of March 16^th and run for seven weeks. 

“With the success of our Charlottetown winter program over the past few years, the timing was right to add another sun destination”, noted Bob Sime, Director of Atlantic Canada with Sunwing Airlines.  “We are pleased to provide the residents of PEI with the choice to fly direct to two spectacular sun destinations.”

The list of options for Islanders flying direct from Charlottetown has grown with daily flights to Halifax, Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto and seasonal flights to Detroit, Boston, New York, Varadero, Cuba and now Punta Cana, DR.  Charlottetown Airport is pleased to partner with carriers Air Canada, WestJet, Delta Air Lines and Sunwing Vacations.
