CAA 2008 Annual Report - May 15, 2009
May 15th, 2009 Charlottetown, PEI – Charlottetown Airport Authority recently held its annual general meeting where they released the 2008 Annual Report and elected Charlottetown businessman David McKenna as the new Chairman.
Gordon MacInnis retired from his role as Chairman of the Authority, marking his ninth and final year he was eligible to serve on the Board of Directors.
"We would like to thank Gordon MacInnis for his contribution to the airport over the past nine years. His dedication, vision and knowledge were of great benefit to the Authority and he will be missed," said Doug Newson, Chief Executive Officer of the Authority.
"The past year was yet another record year for the Charlottetown Airport and it has also marked the sixth year of consecutive passenger growth," noted Newson.
New additions to the route network in 2008 included Air Canada’s daily non-stop service between Charlottetown and Ottawa and Delta Air Lines’ weekend service between Charlottetown and New York’s JFK International Airport.
"We are off to a great start in 2009 with 6.3% growth in traffic for the first four months and this is at a time when overall air travel across the region is down in 2009," said Newson. "Charlottetown Airport is certainly bucking the regional trend and looking forward to a busy summer tourism season."
