Airport unveils new art installation featuring travellers’ photos
Charlottetown Airport Authority has unveiled a new
art installation that features Islanders’ travel photos from around the world.
The Just Go Traveller Photo Wall includes 100 photos from nearly 30 countries that span every continent. The installation has an interactive touch screen component that allows passengers to view information and stories about the photos.
"In today’s world of social media, many photos and experiences are shared and admired online,” noted Doug Newson, CEO of Charlottetown Airport. "We wanted to bring some of those incredible photos and stories from our own passengers into the terminal.”
John Horrelt, Island businessman, avid traveller and photographer, has recently completed a photography tour in Italy. John noted, "I am honoured to have photos in this airport art installation. Travel and photography go hand-in-hand for me. I love to capture the energy of the places we visit and the people I travel with.”
The installation is located in the departures lounge, and can be viewed by those flying from Charlottetown Airport. The photos and experiences can also be viewed online.
Newson continued, "This will be an evolving art installation, we will change photos over the coming years and encourage all Islanders to connect with us through social media by hashtagging #flypei.” Photos can also be submitted here.
