Canadian Airport Authorities are required by the Public Accountability Principals to have a Board of Directors appointed through a process acceptable to the Local / Regional Municipal Governments and the Government of Canada. The majority of the directors are to be nominated by the local regional governments, the federal and provincial governments; other directors are to be nominated by business or socio-economic organizations such as Chamber of Commerce. The Board of Directors is representative of the community and of individuals who have experience in different areas.

Representatives from each group are nominated for three year terms and may serve a maximum of eight years on the Board. In addition to the regular meetings, Board members actively serve on various Standing Committees:
